St. John Ambulance Advanced Medical First Responder (MFR) volunteers attend countless public events across York Region, Ontario to provide basic and advanced first aid when emergencies occur. Our volunteers provide first response casualty care necessary to save a life, prevent further injury or provide comfort until emergency medical assistance arrives. More info below.

WHY VOLUNTEER WITH US?
Volunteering with us gives you an opportunity to gain valuable skills in emergency services or health care while giving back to the community. MFR volunteers must be 16+ years to participate.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT:
St. John Ambulance Medical First Responder (MFR) volunteers are trained in advanced first aid and health care services. Weekly evening meetings help us to refine our skills.
COMMUNITY ROLE:
St. John Ambulance is one of Canada’s largest volunteer networks which also operates world-wide. Our volunteers are present at sports events, festivals, concerts or any community gatherings.

Upon official acceptance into our Volunteer Medical First Responder program, candidates meet on MONDAY’S for 12 WEEKS at:

Upon successfully completing and passing all Advance Medical First Responder training and modules, volunteer candidates are assigned into 1 of 4 MFR UNITS operating within our Branch which provides First Aid coverage for our 9 municipalities in York Region. The MFR Unit location is based on the candidates preferred closest home or work address whichever is desired for weekly meetings.
